2020 Retrospective

I had originally intended to do a best of 2020. I was looking back over my 2020 blogs. There was a big gap in my picture taking and blogging in 2020. I took no pictures and did not produce a blog during March of this year. We were aware of COVID starting in January and starting to get concerned in February, but by mid March we were in full lockdown mode. So I will blame COVID for the major disruption in my life in 2020. I took 17,000 plus pictures this year. This is fairly typical for me, but this year is unusual in that all the pictures were taken at home in NewMahket. As I was going through the pictures the blog morphed into a look at the Wildlife of NewMahket.

The reason for this blog was I said I would like to update my older blogs to the newer technology. My sister said it would be better to do a best of. She also wanted to see the mammals more than the birds. I thought it over and decided a best of was easily doable. I am tempted to do a year by year best of as there are some interesting pictures in the files that deserve new attention. Being self isolated in winter gives me the opportunity to be self indulgent with my time. Besides, it can be fun.

My intent is simply to display the diversity of life that can be observed on our little cul de sac lot in NewMahket.

Meg said I had to include her video of a pileated woodpecker because she got photos of one and I didn’t. All I can say is there will be another chance in 2021, I hope.

Pileated Woodpecker

I should caption these photos but a) I don’t currently know how and b) I am a little distracted right now and c) I want to be done with this in a timely phassion.
