Leaf Peeping

My brother, Rodney, and sister-in-law, Susan are here to visit until after Halloween. We decided to drive up north to see the fall change in colors. At elevation, it was a little past peak because they get an earlier frost and are father north. We had a strategy meeting the night before:

The plan was to go north to Route 4 and go west to I-93, then take it through Franconia Notch and brunch at Polly’s Pancakes on Sugar Hill. Then the all important stop in Littleton. After the brief stop the plan was to take the Kancamagus Highway to Route 16 to Route 108 and home.

We made a brief stop at the church where we married on 8/1/1981.

We happened to meet a young couple there who had just gotten engaged. Told them we were married there 45 years ago. Good omen.

Then it was off to Littleton and Chutters:

We were a little behind schedule, so we were losing our light on the way home.

Given the forecast of partly sunny skies up north, we were extraordinarily fortunate to have mostly clear skies for our adventure. It was a very pleasant day.
