I had a request to show some of the flowers we put in this year. Quite a few of the flowers have gone by but we still have some late bloomers.
This is an overview of the pond. There are two waterfalls, one at the north end of the pond and another separating the sump (shallow end) from the deeper water. The cattails are volunteers and need to keep being thinned. In my opinion, they are a nice addition to the pond.

We got the spalls a couple of years before we had the pond built. So we had the intent long before the eexecution.

There are three quince bushes that bloom in the spring. The monarda bloom in the summer. The butterfly bushes did not over winter, so were replanted and bloom in the fall.

We had quite a few monarch butterflies on the butterfly bushes.

I think this points to the next addition to the yard. I think we should plant a monarch butterfly way station. Since we have plenty of flowers for food. all we need to do is rototill two hundred square feet and plant milkweed and let it stand.

The heron keeps coming back.

Beautiful views, flowers and birthday girl❣️
When I go down to check the bees, I see that hungry heron flying away from the pond… hoping he’s getting breakfast somewhere else !
