Oh Well :-(

Yep, I have COVID

I started developing a cough Saturday night, while we were hosting a birthday party for a friend. I had just chest conjestion Sunday morning and took a home COVID test, which was negative. I felt crummy on Monday and was feeling better Tuesday morning but decided to do a follow up COVID test before going out and doing errands in public, including another round of fishing. Guess that was a little over optimistic on my part. Meg is now sick and the others have been informed of their contact with a COVID positive person.

So I am in an unusual position: I will have plenty of time to work on blogs without competing demands, but no content. We will isolate for the next five days. So it will be mostly rest and relaxation for me. I hope to complete the unfinished vacation blogs. I still have a lot of good content.

Back Yard Mud Hole

I have to issue a correction. The ‘Koi’ pond will be deep enough that any fish that survive until winter will be able to live through the winter. Good luck with that.

Kayak Adventure 2022-05

We had a discussion and it was decided that every time we take the kayaks out, it will get a unique identifier. This will help us keep track of the use of the kayaks.

So we took Su fishing on the Piscassic River behind Meg’s house. She had not been fishing before, so this was her introduction to the sport. It was quite an introduction as all we did was fish and we didn’t get a bite all day. Su did have fun and unlimbered the camera to catch the scenery,

On the trail from the river to Meg’s house we spotted this:

Kayak Adventure 2022-06

Since we failed to catch a fish the first try, we went out the next morning to the river below the dam. Su caught five fish from the shore and six more from the kayak.

Even Mark was blessed with some good luck. He hooked his third chain pickerel with the light tackle and lifted it into the kayak as it bit through the line. As it was flopping around in the bottom of the kayak, it spit out the jug it was hooked on. Mark managed to grab it for a quick picture.

Chain Pickerel

Chain Pickerel grow to about twenty-four inches and typically weigh two to three pounds. This guy is about sixteen inches and is a little over a pound, Fun Sized! They have a lot of sharp teeth in their mouth and they are ambush predators.

On this kayak adventure we finally landed all five species. It was enough fun we were planning to go out again today.

Meg and Su volunteered to help with the party and she was promoted from Sous Chef to Chef Su ‘

So we plan to self isolate for the next five plus days. The only photo opportunities will be around the house and yard. We’ll see if I feel up to holding a camera. I do hope to complete the Italian vacation blogs.

  1. Mark et all. Sorry to hear about the positive testing. I don’t know why the problem is referred to as a positive result – there isn’t anything positive about Covid. Hope the symptoms remain mild? A friend from an exercise class tested positive 1 1/2 weeks ago with a 101 deg temp, sore throat, chills and felt “s____y.” Though the symptoms cleared quickly with the magic P____ drug.
He had been at a class talking with others of us the morning before the bug struck but none who had been confabbing with him fell sick, phew”

  2. Hope you all have mild symptoms if you get it at all and feel better soon! 😔
