Moeller Family Gathering

We seem to be doing an annual Moeller Family Gathering. The past three years we have had it on Cape Cod. This year we had twenty-three people participating. This involved renting four houses for a week. Two were down on the shore in Dennisport and two were in Harwich. We rented the Hermitage for the second year in a row. It is on a kettle pond that offers fresh water fishing, kayaking, swimming and a gathering spot.

Mark was interested in fishing, fresh and saltwater, eating all the seafood and occasional family activities!

Fresh Water Fishing

We caught largemouth bass, chain pickerel, blue gills and yellow perch. There does not seem to be public access to Walkers Pond, so the fishing pressure was pretty light.

An old fishereman’s trick I learned from my dad is to hold the fish as close to the camera as possible to make it seem bigger.

It seemed no matter what size fish I caught, Meg caught a bigger one.

Largemouth Bass – Two Handed

We had an extra week at the Heritage. I think I caught a two plus pound largemouth every day for two weeks.

There was broad participation in the freshwater sports activities

We weren’t the only ones fishing.

Great Blue Heron

There were also Great Egrets and Osprey fishing in the pond.

Saltwater Fishing

This year we engaged Whole Hog Charters for three eight hour charters to fish for Striped Bass, Sea Bass and Fluke. We went with him the last two years and he delivered a quality experience.

We also brought surf casting equipment to use on the beach in Dennisport, but never got the chance.

SEAFOOD

Mark tried to eat all the seafood on Cape Cod….

Party

We also enjoyed the opportunity to socialize.

Other than that, not much happened.

  2. Looks like everyone had a great time! No one looked like they were starving with all of that food! What a wonderful family reunion!
