Mid October 2022

We got our COVID Booster and Flu shots yesterday and got an inch plus of rain overnight. It is still drizzling, so it is a perfect day to do a blog as I have 120 pictures to play with. I am back to my old mishmash of topics.

BOIDS

The turkeys still regularly come to the feeders but we still haven’t seen any juveniles in our yard. Hopefully they will be back next year when the yard is not under construction.

Recently we have been taking a camera on our dog walks along the shore. We hope to get pictures so we can identify the migrating birds. This means it takes two people to walk Benji.

Mammals

Chipmunk (likes Wink’s Pumpkins)
Woodchuck at Andrews

Other

The wet fall weather had brought out some interesting ‘others’.

Slug
Snek

Mark’s Folly

There are still goldfish surviving in the Koi Pond.

Fish

Wink has adopted them and thinks of them as her pets. She enjoys feeding them.

Other birds and critters have been taking advantage of the pond.

This guy has been scoping out the yard for small mammals.

He found the Koi Pond and something must have caught his eye because he stalked right up to it.

Just Getting a Drink?
Really Thirsty
Wink’s Public Enemy # 1

The fish are spooked and spending most of their time hiding. There are still two Koi and some goldfish left. Wink keeps telling him to head south.

Fun with Food

Kume Bistro in Newmarket

I need to get back to taking pictures of food we prepare.

Appetizers

Fun with Benji

Seasonal

Time to prepare for All Hallows Eve.

As usual, I had a lot of help composing this blog post.

Mark’s helper

Somehow time seems to fly by.

In Progress

I have a new toy and intend to continue to play with it. It allows me to embed images in other images like annotating a map. It can be used to add images to floor plans or pictures.

My intent here is to add some context to the pictures we are posting. This is a picture from Google Earth of Meg’s and Andrew’s houses. They each have about an acre and abut the Piscassic River. There is a nature preserve on the other side of the river and the river is navigable by kayak to the dam on Packers Falls Road. You can see how there might be an abundance of critters in this environment. I plan to do a similar post for our yard in the future.

Try to find the critters! Mouse over the hidden icons to find the creatures. At this point there are cats, bobcat, fox, deer , salamanders, bat and birds embedded in this image.
