NEHiN June 2020

It’s time for another serving of whine: “Nuttin Evah happens in NewMahket! and “there is nutting to do!” There is so much nuttin happening here that I have accumulated about five hundred more photos and have decided to do another blog. I hope to convince you how ruff it is here in NewMahket. (now 700 pictures before I got the whining finished)

The adult fox has been a regular visitor to our scratch food bird feeding station. He seems to like the sunflower seeds in the Choice Blend from Wild Birds Unlimited. We think this is the mature male. The female is said to be slightly smaller and more grayish. Notice the fully developed tail.

Adult Male Fox

Wink saw three foxes but I only saw two. We think two juveniles were with one adult.

Baby Fox

We are seeing more deer. Feeding two or three takes more energy than feeding one and so the moms have to be out and about more. We are not seeing the fawns with their moms as much.

  1. Beautiful! I’ve been seeing a fox walking through my backyard almost daily, but I’m thinking it was the same one because it was reddish and looked to be the same size. Then today, I definitely saw a different one. It was the lighter one in your picture. It was larger and very different looking than the one I usually see. I’ve never seen more than one at a time though.

    1. Seeing a ton of birds! Lots of female cardinals coming to the feeder to “feed the old man”! About a week ago we were on a walk and saw our first Mama with fawn of the season. Left us smiling ear to ear. We have rarely caught sight of that even though we see tons of deer in our backyard- they never seem to have the babies with them over here?
