It is really ruff self isolating in NewMahket, where ‘nuttin evah happens’ and there is ‘nuttin to do.’ So I plan to take a few minutes and lay out my woes.
The pressure on the deck bird feeders has been a lot higher since the bear removed the garden feeders. We are still putting scratch food on the ground for ground feeding birds but the deck feeders have to come in at night. We are still seeing cookie birds. We are also seeing a lot of baby starlings.
We have one male cowbird that has claimed our house as his territory and he defended it vigorously. It seems his most challenging opponent is the dreaded reflection bird, it never gives up.
We finally put the bird bath back on the front porch. This gives the dog one more station he has to monitor.
The fox and the turkeys have been around and they are quite aware of each other.
You can see how ruff it is to protect the house. Benji needs to be everywhere at once, the living room (squirrel), the front door (bird bath) and the basement (turkey) to keep the house protected. It is a hard job for one small dog to do along with all his other duties. I think he needs doggie reinforcements.
We have tried to maintain some normalcy but this Fridays Mini BYOB didn’t live up to Wink’s standards. We only had pepperoni pizza and salad.
It is easy to discern how ruff it is here, but we will keep muddling along.
