Early July 2023

I have quite a backlog: June, Puffins and Bedrock Gardens all the way back to May. So when the going gets tough, it is easier to just skip over stuff and get to it later.

Late June and early July have been a rainy season here. The gardens have been going gangbusters but so have the weeds. Another week in and even more behind.

Mark’s Folly

There is an old saying that “A boat is a hole in the ocean that you pour money into.” I have a corollary: ” A Koi Pond is a hole in the earth you pour money into.”

The fish are still surviving and we feed them every other day. The birds and the animals use it all the time. It is enjoyable to just sit, listen and watch.

BOIDS

I haven’t taken as many bird pics as usual, but they abound in the yard.

We have two turkey families, one with two chicks and one with four. We also have a collection of males. One of the females is interesting as she is a bearded hen.

Bearded Hen

Notice she has a beard, the feathers hanging down from her chest. Also there are no spurs on her legs: a hen. Bearded hens are somewhat rare so it is interesting to find one. I know she makes all you ladies jealous.

The reason I did this blog first is because it was easy, letting me feel like I accomplished something.

We are busy here in New Hampshire and it is shaping up to be a pretty good summer.
