Early January 2023

After a busy holiday season, things have really quieted down. It has been an unusually warm January with occasional winter weather.

Snow
Cold Snap

We got a little snow but it quickly melted away.

Snow

The bay hasn’t frozen and there are still geese and duck hunters out there bothering our birds. Wink will be happy when the hunting season finally ends.

Hunters

BOIDS

Juvenile Eagle in Fog
Pair of Red Tailed Hawks
Coopers Hawk
Sharp Shinned Hawk
Downy Woodpecker hiding from Hawks
Turkeys
Crows

We put a cup of puppy chow down for the crows. They expect to be fed at eight o’clock every morning. I ran out of purina and switched to a store brand because the usual wasn’t available. Guess what? The crows show a strong preference for the more expensive puppy chow.

Ducks

Mammals

The deer have been coming and cleaning up the scratch food. The biggest doe tries to keep the bird food to herself.

Fun with Food

Holidays are over and we are reduced to cooking and eating at home.

Baya and Benji

We are adjusting to having Baya grace our lives. Benji is not completely on board with it yet, jealous of any other dog getting his attention!

It has been a relaxing early January and it is allowing us to recover from the busyness of the holidays.

  1. Benji definitely looks a bit grumpy. Does he also have to get along with Baya’s feline colleagues?
