It is the last day of February here and it is still very much winter here. We have snow cover and the low this morning was eleven degrees. I guess the weather dominates this blog cycle. We had another winter storm and this allowed us to deal with more of the wind-scaped trees. All told, we ended up with another ten or so inches of snow.
BOIDS
It is not as easy as it looks for this turkey to eat at the scratch feeder but it figured out how to do it.
Mammals
I didn’t get any pictures of the deer, but the fresh snow leaves a record of their wanderings overnight. As you can see, the deer have been busy in the yard.

Bonfire
It was not my intent to have another bonfire this season, but events overtook us. We had more wind and another tree came down. We still had more brush to clear and with another winter storm forecast, it seemed like a good time to clean up the mess. Wink and I laid down what we thought would be the size of the bonfire.
Andrew and I added to the fire, but we needed a bigger chain saw to handle the trunk.
A friend came over with a bigger chain saw and we got the trunk cut, split and added to the fire. We ended up with about two trees worth of wood in the fire. We then wrapped a tarp around the wood so that it wouldn’t get packed with snow like the previous woodpile.
This fire didn’t seem as impressive as the fire we burned at night, but this one was really hot and burned almost completely.
Now that we are caught up with our winter work, we are so READY for Spring.
Mark, Wink and Meg
Now they are famous on the internet, think they can charge me more for their ‘labor’. We greatly enjoyed both fires, thanks so much for including us!!
Looks good as usual except for one thing……that Polish meal would look much better with my family recipe-made cabbage rolls (Halupkis)! Perhaps a future theme night?
