Early February 2022

It has truly been winter around here and goings on in the yard have been controlled by the weather. We had another Bomb Cyclone, Nor’easter followed by extreme cold followed by another snowstorm and then alternating freezing and thawing. This is the type of winter weather that tends to keep one trapped indoors and isolated. Benji is definitely not a winter dog. During one of the thaw periods his feet got overly wet and cold such that he had to be carried home. He was grateful for the lift.

BOIDS

Still having fun. These pictures are taken during the variety of weather conditions we had this past couple of weeks. For reference we use the Nikon P900, Nikon P1000 and our phones for most of the blogging. The cameras were described in the previous blog.

Bluejay

I especially like this picture because if you look carefully at the bluejay’s eye, you can see the window I am taking the picture from.

Just Fun

The juvenile red tailed hawk is still visiting us:

The deer have been hard pressed to get food because of the snow and sleet. They have been coming to the bird feeders and eating the husks the birds leave behind.

Fun with Food

It is winter and going outside is tough because of the weather, so the result is more fun in the kitchen.

Fun with Benji

We had a little brush pile that we burned once there was snow on the ground and the winds quieted down. For the pyros out there, this will be the subject of the next blog.

  1. Again I enjoyed your blog and am jealous of your food.

On a personal note, I suffered a stroke last Friday afternoon while participating in some PT to correct a torn rotator cuff on my left shoulder, I thought I was going to have to go to a PT rehab facility before I came home from the hospital. However, I did so well walking in the hospital today they let me come home and receive PT at home. Glad to say that I did not suffer any paralysis from the stroke.
