Spring can be a very entertaining time of year around here. I have already collected enough pictures for another blog and I think they tell an entertaining story, so here goes.
Kayak Adventure 2021-02
Andrew and I got out again. We have seen people enjoying the bay. Here are some people on Hobie kayaks.
These kayaks are pedal kayaks and they have fins instead of propellers. There is a new version of these kayaks that have just been released, the Hobie Mirage Lynx. Meg feels she doesn’t have the arm strength for longer paddles and wanted a pedal kayak. Mark desired one for fishing. So we ordered two and they will be delivered mid-June. For now we muddle along using our old kayaks.
We headed toward Shackford Point and I unlimbered the camera and took a few shots.
This was a better tide and time of day and there was more bird song but there was sufficient cover I didn’t get any pictures of the songbirds.
So the only bird that put on a show for us was another Osprey, Oh Bother:
Maybe we’ll have better luck on our next paddle.
BOIDS
The birds have been putting on a show in the yard.
Female Cardinal Male Cardinal Female Cardinal
Ladies I am sure you can feel her pain. The male here seems to be young because his colors are just coming in. He didn’t feed her the whole time I was watching. Maybe he doesn’t know what to do. Wink undertook a massive Mark improvement project along these same lines. Hopefully the female grosbeak will have more luck.
Mammals
I got some pictures of deer. Again you ladies will recognize the doe’s discomfort.
You can see that the fawn is kicking by the bulge in her abdomen. It won’t be long now. Last years male fawn was still following mommy around.
Fun with Food
It hasn’t been very long since the last blog, so not much in the way of foodie endeavors’.

Other than that not much is happening in NewMahket.
