We are now three weeks post second Pfizer shot and we are slowly opening up. We have ordered takeout three times and been to the grocery store and a car dealer for service. We are adhering to the mask mandate and social distancing. It is refreshing to be able to do the things we used to do so freely.
Winter is not through with us yet. We got more snow and sleet and dangerous cold. It got below ten degrees with winds gusting up to twenty miles an hour. Benji was not a fan of walking in that. In spite of or because of the weather, there has been quite a bit of activity in the yard. The bird song has increased like they think spring is coming. Still a ways to go………..
BOIDS
We are seeing bluebirds routinely.
Furry Things (formerly mammals)
It is pretty late in the season and the deer are hungry. They are more willing to come close to the house to feed.
The first bear sighting of the year has happened. Another sign of spring. The bears have come here several times over the past couple of years. I expect they will come soon and we will have to bring the feeders in again.
Fun with Food
I get a lot of comments on the food. The sympathy for having to endure Mark’s cooking is much appreciated. Now that we are vacinated, the world is opening up to us:
Basil Shrimp Plated Basil Choock Salad and Pot Stickers
We had pizza for our mini BYOB this week. It is becoming time to open up the house and invite other vaccinated people to join us in our Friday celebrations.
I made whole wheat cinnamon/apple muffins:
Batter Bake PLated
It is easy to get in a breakfast rut.
Muffins and Fruit Fruit and MUffins Pastry Pastry Sticky Buns Egg Pancake Pancake Pancake
You need a boring lunch to top off a boring breakfast.
Next thing you know is it is dinner time and time for Mark to ruin some more food.
Shrooms Veggies Choock Gauc Stir Fry Combine Put in shell Garnish Plated
Fun with Benji
Life is tough here, but it is a lot less tough now that we have been vaccinated. We are looking forward to things opening up.
In the mean time, stay safe, stay healthy!

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful little bird! Especially the one close-up. Glad you got the new camera system!
Funny! I made reuben sandwiches this week also. YUM! Glad to hear you’re vaccinated & feeling a little less confined. I know it was beginning to get you down.
Little warmer in Wichita. I have went to 6 WSU baseball games over the last two weekends. I got my second Pfizer shot last Tuesday, with absolutely no problems. Joan got her first Pfizer shot last Friday and no problems. We feel blessed. Y’all take care and be careful with the bears.
Excellent photos. Also a big fan of Kume!
you should frame these!
