Andra and Dave led the Moody Point bird walk again this morning. It has been a good year for birding and the air was full of bird song. The weather was clear with a breeze from the Northwest.
We started at trail head one and were seeing birds as we gathered. Wink saw a hummingbird but I didn’t get a picture.
We saw quite a few yellow legs as the tide was coming in. According to Andra they stop by here on their way to the Arctic. Good turn out, fair number of bird sightings, and a gorgeous sunny day.

MPCA Bird Watch May 18, 2019
On Saturday, 19 MPCA participants and friends joined Andra Crawford and Dave Arnold in our annual Bird Walk. We were NOT disappointed in the variety as the list reads even better that the 12 Days of Christmas:
1 Nesting Osprey
2 Pine Siskins
3 Catbirds
4 Bluejays
5 Baltimore Orioles
6 Finches
7 Cardinals
8 Sparrows
9 Greater Yellow Legs
10 Seagulls
11 Geese
12 Cormorants
And a beautiful Hummingbird!
…along with a Catbird, Cowbird, Phoebe, Towhee, Red Winged Blackbird, Dove, Sandpiper, Titmouse, Rose Breasted Grosbeak, Red Tail Hawk, several Grackle, House Sparrows, and probably several more sightings I may have missed.
Many thanks to Andra and Dave for hosting this each year – it’s always exciting and educational to learn more about the wonderful birds which also consider Moody Point home!
great pictures, especially the invasive species! thx for sharing!
