Nuttin continues to happen in NewMahket. We had our first storm of 2019 and it was a snow/ice storm followed by extreme cold. Todays high was a balmy five degree Fahrenheit. The roads are ice covered but we did not lose power. The next storm is in two days but it is projected to be an inch of rain. We will need to shovel the decks before then.
The English starlings were mobbing the yard prior to the storm.
I woke up to about six inches of snow with an icy crust. This was less than the eight to fourteen we were expecting. But it was enough to produce some very unhappy deer. The deer are reduced to scavenging the tree and brush in the yard. They even ate the chamaecyparis tree in the front yard. It still has the Christmas lights on it and they ate around the lights.

Last post included a scatological mystery. It was pictures of scat left in the driveway. Here are a set of deer scat pictures for comparison. Our typical deer scat is much much smaller than the mystery scat.
Deer Scat
Because the day after the storm was so coooold, the birds have been mobbing the feeders for the energy to stay warm. Wink took pity on them and filled the feeders three times. The birds are all puffed up to stay warm.

Last night was the blood moon eclipse but it was cloudy here. We could not do it justice.
Other than that, it is all quiet in NewMahket.
