The construction project is nearly finished. The final Walk through is scheduled for November 19, 2018. So we need to get the house put back together. Right now the house is all torn up. We need to organize things to get back to normal.
The garage is a 20 foot by 30 foot space. We would like to park two cars in the garage, a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Mini Cooper S. I would like to have a workshop in the back right corner of the garage. We also need to store the snow blower in the garage. We keep the window screens here as well. Then there is the lawn equipment, kayaking gear, pet gear, winter gear and shoes. We also plan to have a freezer in the garage. We have six shelves we can hang on the walls and multiple storage bins. Right now this stuff is under the porch and in a pod. We have two ladders, two wagons, tools, drill press and large wheeled toolbox. We also need an area to store bird seed.
The basement is problematic. We replaced the boiler and air-conditioning with a hydroair system. The new system would not fit in the old space so it was moved around the corner. The electric panels were also located in the basement. New plumbing also resulted in loss of wall space.
So in the new install we lost wall shelf space. We are thinking of replacing the built in shelves in the reorganization. The stuff piled in the background is paint, stain, tile and left over trim from the various construction projects. We store a few remnant tiles in case we need to replace one in the future. The paint has come in handy in the past but we should get rid of the stuff that is obsolete.
We store our Christmas stuff in the basement. We also have unused pictures and kitchen spillover in the basement. We have glasses, mugs, china. We have firearms in the basement and must get a gun safe.
There are several aspects to the new addition.
Wink wants linen closets on either side of the window with a bench in between the closets. The bench would have storage under the seat.
We plan to put a wall to wall bookshelf at the far end of the family room.
We plan to put a sixty-five inch TV on the wall near the left hand door with a bench underneath it to hold the entertainment equipment. We are debating more bookcases to the right to balance the wall.
The bedrooms each have a closet and need to have organizers placed inside to better utilize the space.
We had to empty the back hall, hall closet and laundry room to accommodate the construction. Some of this needs to move to the garage.
We are considering having some of this custom built. We are also looking at other providers for the cabinetry. We are developing a better understanding of what we want now that we can visualize the space.
